In recent years, Opera’s fintech businesses have faced numerous controversies involving predatory lending however, this issue has largely subsided over time, in addition to Opera’s divestment of its majority ownership of its Fintech holdings. As part of its geographic expansion strategy, Opera launched its Opera Mini browser and its news aggregator Opera News, and has minority stakes in fintech, such as OPay and OKash. Since its acquisition by Chinese investors in 2016, Opera has shifted its focus to emerging markets, namely Africa. Opera is a Norway-based software company that once owned one of the most prominent browsers in North America, called Opera.
